Personalisation
Personalisation means everything to do with making services and supports personal to the individual and their family. Some people use the term just to mean direct payments for social care or health care. Personalisation can be expressed through direct payments, but that is just one way. Personalisation also includes:
- making sure the services everyone uses are accessible to all
- helping communities to accept people with difference needs and preferences
- helping individuals and families to build up their informal networks of support
- changing the way health and social care services work so they offer truly person-centred and family-centred support instead of ‘one size fits all’.
